Shapeways: A small empire incubating more small empires

Small Empires is a new weekly show of The Verge that visits rising startups in New York City and does in-depth interviews of the men and women building our future. This week the show chose to highlight Shapeways.

Join the show’s host, Alexis Ohanian, as he visits what he’s calling “a company within a company,” Shapeways. He makes this reference since that’s story of Shapeways, a startup that began in an incubator within Dutch conglomerate, Philips. And he further makes the observation that Shapeways itself is something of an incubator, a 3D printing marketplace that allows for others to make a business out of their selling the models they place in the Shapeways marketplace.

I’ve never seen this show before, but I’m hooked, I’ll be tuning in now each week. I like this guy, Alexis. Very entertaining.

How about you put some links to sources?

We always do. Just about every time. In this case, there was no page the video was housed on, that I could find at least. and I looked. It was just a Youtube video. And i think just about everyone knows how to grab the video URL from a Youtube video in the top right.
